Corning announced on Monday that the first shipments of Gorilla Glass 2 have been sent to the company’s�partners. Corning’s second-generation of Gorilla Glass is 20% thinner than the original without sacrificing performance or strength. “Corning?s new glass composition, Gorilla Glass 2, enables slimmer and sleeker devices, brighter images, and greater touch sensitivity, providing an ideal solution for the newest, most sophisticated smartphones, tablets, and personal computers,?�Corning’s�global director of marketing and commercial operations, David R. Apple Acquires App Search Engine Chomp
Apple on Thursday confirmed it has acquired San Francisco-based start-up Chomp, which operates a search engine for apps, for an undisclosed amount. Apple declined to elaborate on how it plans to integrate Chomp, other than to say it sometimes acquires technology companies and generally doesn't discuss its plans. The acquisition comes as Apple is counting down to the App Store's twenty-five billionth app download, across the 550,000 app titles currently available. LightSquared plans to lay off 45% of its staff
LightSquared announced on Tuesday that the company plans to cut its workforce by 45% in an�effort�to cut costs.�”This and other cost savings measures will allow LightSquared to continue to navigate the regulatory process as it works with the appropriate government agencies to find solutions to the GPS interference issue and bring its $14 billion privately funded wireless broadband network to more than 260 million Americans,” the company said in a statement to�Reuters. Last week, the FCC announced that it would block the company’s planned 4G LTE network due to issues concerning GPS interference. Redesigned iPad 3 with 8-megapixel camera pictured for the first time
Purported images of Apple’s next-generation iPad have been published by Chinese language Apple Daily ahead of the new tablet’s official announcement.
